One of the worst things about reviewing games is the rush to get it up when embargo breaks. This is made even harder when you’re not writing for one of the top five gaming websites and get the game a day or two early, or even sometimes on launch day, like Rockstar is notorious for doing. This happened to me years and years ago when Fallout 3 was released, and I was sent it the week of release. What good is it to readers to rush through a game? How does that possibly give you a good impression of how the game really is? In that case I decided to not even try and while my review went up a month late, I’m still proud of it. (My E3 preview is one of the few older pieces I can look back on fondly, as well.)
Fortunately Bethesda got Fallout 4 out to us weeks before release, allowing me to put dozens of hours into it and solidifying it as one of my games of the year for 2015.
Fun fact- despite putting in 150 hours into this game I still have a bunch of stuff to complete. There’s no doubt I’ll go back to soon… just as soon as I finish up The Witcher 3, and Metal Gear Solid V, and…
